I understand that provincial health plans are eligible medical expenses. But wouldn’t a program that not everyone pays for, only seniors and their annual fee is dependent on income. Those eligible for GIS pay nothing, those not eligible pay $424. Those who have other coverage pay nothing. It would seem that it should be.
NS Pharmacare premiums are deductible.
That is what I believe. I had a senior (living in a nursing home) with substantial pension income. I deducted the NS Seniors Pharmacare as a medical expense along with a bunch of other stuff, including her nursing home cost. CRA wanted to review her medical expenses and wrote back saying the NS Seniors Pharmacare was NOT deductible. I am still claiming it as I have been for years and will continue to do so until someone can show me legislation that says otherwise.
