First T2 filing. Provincial Tax not pulling into the T2?

Hi all. this is my first T2 filing. There is Provincial taxable income calculating in the AT1, and based on their taxable income, they should have a small amount of provincial taxes. However, that amount only shows in the AT1 but NOT in the T2. I checked the S5 form, I filled out the gross revenue (all revenue is attributable to Alberta), and column E and F auto populated. Down in box 255, the provincial tax owing shows $0. I know it should have an amount but I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong!

Alberta is a unique province.

You file the T2 and AT1 separately.

The Alberta tax is not included on the T2 because it is not run through the CRA.

The client must pay Alberta tax to Alberta…NOT CRA

Ahh ok thank you for the help. I’ve only ever practiced on other provinces. So then the T2 will correctly show a federal tax owing, and will show 0 for provincial, S5 will show 0 for provincial, the summary at the bottom of tax cycle will show $0 for provincial, but the AT1 is the correct amount?

Yes. The instalments paid to AB government go to AT1 and any remainder owing is paid to the AB Gov.
