Anyone with experience with Adoption expenses? I got a client that went through the legal process to gain guardianship of a relative’s child who is a Canadian citizen, but been living in foreign country with parents. Now back to Canada for study, I was going to suggest claiming all related expenses as adaption expense, but not sure if it’s going to apply in this case, and the bigger problem, the child not used to educaiton system here, and is back with her parents in 2025 in foreign country.
Looks like transfer of custody and adoption are legally different, based on that, I don’t think that would be eligible adoption expenses.
