My question is..can we do this for our clients through our own account or does the client have to do through their account…which, in many cases they don’t have an account…are computer illiterate or simply don’t have time…CRA at it again.
OMG… I think I am going to retire sooner rather than later
The number of persons who do not have what is required to register for My Account is ridiculous which they will need to register for a business !
Some it is a lack of Internet Access, some it is the ability to understand computers, some it will be lack of information found on tax returns.
But if they reach 30K ins ales they are supposed to register for HST .. ASAP.. How will that be possible? This is not a well thought thru plan nor a plan designed to help.
It has to be their account. Even if you add their business account through the online access way we have to add clients without MyAccount access, have them sign the form and upload it - they still have to confirm it in their MyBusinessAccount. Another way CRA is blocking taxpayers from getting the help they need.
you guys do not know what you are talking about. To register business number accounts such as GST numbers is done from the main lobby, as always was possible… Now it is just the only way. Did one this morning, took all of 5 minutes.
Bert, that is still possible, it is the personal MyAccount that is very difficult. Read @MayeMW post again.
Yep. CRA wants all those people who can’t or won’t learn how to create their own online login to give someone POA, so that that legal rep can be held responsible for everything the taxpayer didn’t respond to online. I think they are subtly trying to get us (accountants & tax preparers) to take on that role…
Sorry, but I didn’t think that posing a question on this ptatform could bring about this kind of comment.. excuse my ignorance, but I was simply asking a question . I’ve always accessed the BRO registration directly to CRA https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/businesses/topics/business-registration/business-number-program-account/how-register/resident.html#h-1… if there’s a way through my own Rep a Client portal with my own credentials; I didn’t know.
@paul Yes, there is as per the post by @BertMulderCGA.
@paul, my comments were not directed at you, merely to those who chirped without knowing what they were chirping about…
You’re speaking of the BRO (Business Registration Online). We are talking online access via rep a client for business users.
I’m so sorry. I misread the original post. However, if anyone has any tipss or ways of successfully opening an GST/HST account once you’ve created a business number via BRO I’m all ears.
That IS the topic of this thread…
See my post above.
@paul Login to your portal. Link is on the left.
Thanks everyone
