Entering a T5 (Payer is TD MORTGAGE CORPORATION)
Box 13 (interest from Canadian sources): $20
The Source of interest has the following options:
Normally, I select bank. But since the slip is from TD MORTGAGE CORPORATION I am wondering if its something else?
TD Mortgage Corporation normally issues T5 slips for Term Deposit interest. You could safely report this as “bank”. My understanding is the CRA really only requires these to assist with their matching process. I expect that if you receive a T5 slip and indicate “bank” you won’t have any problems.
If you want some useless information; those selections actually transmit with an efiled return. Interest income gets allocated and transmitted in the following fields in an efiled RTU.
9909 - Bank interest
9910 - Bond interest
9912 - Mortgage Interest
