This tax season is unusually trying and tiring. Amongst all the not so happy clients, i received such a nice message from one of my clients.
i thought i would share.- kindness is much appreciated and needed.
…‘I see by the time of your email that you are working late…I just prayed for your health and focus and stress level as you are working through this heavy workload of the year ’
Some years ago, a client shared the following:
… thanks a lot for your advice regarding taxes.
in the meantime I need to find a bumper sticker that says:
“my accountant is awesome”
I keep it readily at hand for those moments when I want to quit.
As a way to cope with imposter syndrome, I have a folder saved on my computers as “appreciation emails/voicemails.” Occasionally, when I’m stressed or tired of working, I look through the kind responses that were sent to me. Just last week, I was sent an email by a client that had the subject as “Thank you for your services.” It was out of the blue and when I needed it the most.
Mine for today was “Thank you for all your help. You are a wonderful teacher and advisor.” My client is a university professor, from Mexico and was having a hard time figuring out how much she was supposed to have contributed for 2024 after over contributing in 2023 before I had a chance to talk to her.
I always get lots of positive messages every tax season. Often clients would tell me that there nothing “standard” in my business name. Today one of my regular clients brought my wife an arrangement of fresh tulips knowing that she doesn’t get to spend as much time with me during the long hours of tax season. And yesterday, a client brought me a small box of Morden’s of Winnipeg Peanut Brittle which my kids fully enjoyed. Indeed, gratitude goes a long way raising our energy and keeping us vibrant both inside and outside of tax season.
