Marital Status Error

I made an error on a return and put client as single as opposed to Divorce. CRA now is contacting client to send in forms.

Any suggestions on how I can fix my error. I am on the phone waiting for CRA to answer :frowning:

Thanks

I’m not sure. Can you correct it and use ReFile?

I almost feel as if there must be a something more to this…

What tax difference would there be between Divorced or Single that the CRA would spend resources on requesting documents.

What documents could you possibly send to prove you are single?

I am surprised that CRA would ask for that, maybe there are support payment or dependent, but I have seen clients’ previous return using Single/divorced interchangeably, never had problem from CRA

With the on-line mail I have heard that taxpayers receive a notification when their marital status is changed. They may be reading more into the message they received.

It could be just one of those messages to indicate if this is not right let us know kind of message.

In any event as snowplowguy pointed out no tax difference.
