Eligible Dependent when change of marital status during the year

Hey guys,

So according to CRA, a person could claim this amount if during any time of the year, the person live by him/herself (no spouse nor common law) and receive no support. This seems to be a bit of a grey area because it does not determine any specific length of time. For example, for the year 2023 marital status is Common Law, however, previous status is Separated/Single/Divorce => the client can still claim the Eligible Dependent regardless of the Date of change of the marital status. I tried to input Jan 01 2022 was when the status changed and the client still got the whole credit amount of Eligible Dependent.

That is correct, they are entitled to the entire credit ( less any income earned by the dependent) in the year of change to C/L or married.
