I want to make sure, since this is the first time I’m in this situation.
I normally file GST returns directly through my client’s CRA account. Would they be charged a penalty if the return is filed late due to system maintenance?
When a GST/HST return is due to be filed on a legal holiday, the first working day after the holiday is considered the due date. So if you are looking at this weekend, the return would be due on September 2nd so I don’t believe it will be considered as filed late if you file tomorrow.
