i have a 87 yr old client who passed. He doesn’t have a dtc on file.(
i have researched for any information on claiming the attendent care as medical in year of death without dtc
any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
You may have to get a letter from the deceased’s physician explaining why he needed the attendant care and what kind of attendant care was needed.
I have applied for and received post mortem Disability Tax Credit’s in the past. Not too difficult to prove the condition was severe and pretty permanent. Of course this doesn’t help you much on April 27th though.
I suppose you could claim the attendant care and presumably by the time they get around to post assessment reviews the DTC would be approved by then (assuming the condition was severe enough to qualify).

I applied for DTC post mortem for my father-in-law last year. We had to file the return and pay the tax upfront, but the DTC was processed promptly by CRA and the refund came quickly.
