I am trying to file a 2025 T1 for a client who went bankrupt in 2026 (August 18) but it’s not going through. Any reason why I am not able to file Jan-Dec 2025 return? I though trustee only files the year client went bankrupt which would be 2026.

On our EFILE worksheet, the 5th point is about bankruptcy returns that are excluded from EFILE.
The return for the year immediately prior to the year of bankruptcy cannot be sent through EFILE (excluded) and it notes that the trustee should file it.

So, could anyone other than a trustee have e-filed this return sometime before the taxpayer went bankrupt?
